Saudi aviation strategy aims for only 10% of 330 million annual travelers to be transit passengers: GACA chief
In pursuit of its Vision 2030 strategy, Saudi Arabia is set to revolutionize its aviation sector, aiming to establish itself as the primary civil aviation hub in the Middle East. Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, President of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), revealed the kingdom’s comprehensive plan to develop airports, airlines, and related facilities. With a focus on attracting non-transit visitors, Saudi Arabia aims to welcome 330 million travelers, of which only 10% will be transit passengers. The ambitious strategy includes expanding air connectivity to over 250 destinations globally, attracting $100 billion in investments, and elevating the kingdom’s role as a global logistics platform.
As part of this transformative initiative, Saudi Arabia also plans to significantly increase air freight capacity from 0.8 million tonnes to 4.5 million tonnes by 2030. These strategic moves align with the broader Vision 2030 goal of diversifying the kingdom’s economy and positioning it as a key player in the global aviation industry. Read more
