Ryanair orders 25 more Boeing 737 MAX 200
Ryanair announced a decision to use an option it had on 25 Boeing 737 MAX 200, pushing its current order to 135 aircraft. That option is priced at $3 billion. The first plane should be delivered before spring 2019.
The additional Boeing 737 MAX 200s will help Ryanair to reach its objective of 200 million passengers per year by 2024 , thanks to its the augmented capacity (up to 200 passengers, hence its name), the carrier believes.
Moreover, it “incorporates the latest technology engines and winglets which will reduce fuel consumption and noise emissions, ensuring we remain Europe’s greenest, cleanest airline,” says Ryanair’s Chief Financial Officer Neil Sorahan.
Ryanair is the launch customer of the 737 MAX 200 (also known as 737 MAX 8) since its order of a hundred of these planes back in 2014. In total, Ryanair currently has 650 pending orders with Boeing, making it the biggest customer in Europe.
