airBaltic improves technical apprentice internship program SkyTech

Complementing the diverse range of its training and internship programs, the Latvian national airline airBaltic announces the relaunch of its improved technical apprentice internship program SkyTech at the Technical Department. It offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced airBaltic technicians in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining aircraft mechanical systems.

Andris Vaivads, SVP Technical Operations at airBaltic: “We are delighted to relaunch our technical apprentice program, which provides a priceless experience working alongside our experienced technicians. SkyTech not only helps develop the next generation of aviation professionals, but also supports airBaltic’s technical operations, as we continue to grow our fleet and route network.”

The technician apprentice program SkyTech is designed for candidates who possess a comprehensive understanding of aircraft structures, systems, and mechanics, including their airworthiness. The apprenticeship is a challenging and rewarding experience that provides practical training in all aspects of aircraft maintenance.

The program offers apprentices an exciting opportunity to work on the most greenest, effective and modern Airbus A220-300 aircraft and learn about the latest technologies in the aviation industry. Also, it is also a chance for aspiring technicians to develop a career in aviation and grow their skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.

As an apprentice, one can choose between three program sub-divisions, which have been created to develop and strengthen both theoretical knowledge and practical skills:

  • Apprenticeship by school – to expand theoretical knowledge;
  • Apprentice in aircraft maintenance – base maintenance, line maintenance or workshop routines in up to a twelve-month-long program. Includes rotations and practical training;
  • Apprentice in maintenance support – internship in the Engineering & Planning or Logistics Division in a six-month-long-program.
