AeroMexico Resumes Service to Acapulco

Aeromexico resumed its service to Acapulco today with four weekly flights from Mexico City. To celebrate, the administration of the Acapulco International Airport, operated by Grupo Aeroportuario Centro Norte (OMA), carried out the traditional water salute to receive the flight.

On September 14, 1934, Aeromexico performed its first commercial flight with a Stinson Reliant SR-5 aircraft, from Mexico City to Acapulco, Guerreroa route with which this month celebrates 86 years of history in the Mexican aviation. The first flight lasted 1 hour, 40 minutes, transporting four passengers, including the captain.

This destination in the Mexican Pacific is one of the most emblematic in the country. It offersa great diversity of natural attractions, such as the Coyuca and Tres Palos Lagoons; an exquisite gastronomic offer, like Pescado a la Talla, the local fish specialty; events of international stature such as the Mexican Open, and exciting shows, such as the impressive divers of La Quebrada, in addition to an unmatched weather.

Jose Zapata, Aeromexico Sales Director for Mexico and JCA, stated: “Returning to this destination that marked the beginning of our history is very special. The Secretary of Tourism of the State of Guerrero, Ernesto Rodriguez Escalona assured:“It gives us great pleasure that Aeromexico resumes its service toAcapulco. It is a clear sign that the measures and protocols that we have been applying in the destination are boosting confidence not only in our visitors but also in our business partners. Today we share the responsibility to take care of those who visit this beautiful port. Welcomeback Aeromexicoto Acapulco”.

For his part, Eligio Serna Najera, President of the Trust for Tourism Promotion, added:“The reactivation of Aeromexico flights to Acapulco represents a great step towards the tourismrecovery of this port. We thank Aeromexico for itsgreat support to Acapulco, and we will continue working together to achieve afast increase inits operations to this destination”.

Aeromexico recently announced the increase in its operations for September and expects to end the month with around 7,600 flights to more than 60 domesticand international destinations.
