The fourth new Airbus A220 LZ-AMS of Bulgaria Air reached its destination on March 8
Early in the morning on March 8, the fourth new Airbus A220-300, registered under No. LZ-AMS, flew from the Norwegian capital Oslo to Sofia Airport. The aircraft is from the newest technology generation and is manufactured by the European producer Airbus. It has just become an important part of the ongoing renewal of the fleet of Bulgaria Air.
The registration of the aircraft, LZ-AMS, follows the tradition of the national carrier to name its planes after big European cities, by giving it the name of the Dutch megapolis Amsterdam. The previous three newcomers, Airbus A220, bought in 2023, were registered as follows: LZ-ROM /Rome/, LZ-LON /London/ and LZ-PAR /Paris/.
The airline’s passengers can take advantage of the extreme comfort of the new modern aircraft, which has the largest seats in its class, larger windows, pretty illuminated and quiet cabin, as well as highly-adaptive air conditioning. New functionalities – such as USB ports for charging electronic devices – are also available for every seat. LZ-AMS – the bigger modification of A220-300 model – offers 143 seats, 8 in Business Class, and more space between the rows. Seats are distributed in 3:2 configuration, allowing as much as 80% of all passengers to choose window or aisle seat.
Bulgaria Air has been modernizing and upgrading its fleet since mid-2023, and offers higher comfort on board to its passengers, thanks to the commercial exploitation of the new aircraft on regular lines. In addition, the new planes use 25% less fuel, which makes them greener and more price-effective. Airbus A220 model has been manufactured to reduce emissions and produce 50% less noise footprint. Therefore, it’s suitable for flying to all airports, including those located in urban and inhabited areas.
