Jet2.com and Jet2holidays announced as member of National Apprenticeship Week 2024 Supporters Club

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have been named as one of the supporters of National Apprenticeship Week 2024, taking place from 5th – 11th February 2024.

The leading leisure airline and UK’s largest tour operator will be showcasing their support for the 17th annual National Apprenticeship Week, with a week-long series of activities. These include attending the Leeds Apprenticeship Recruitment Fair, Tree Planting with their charity partner, Trees for Cities, and developing ideas to support the ‘Jet2 Journey to Net Zero’ and Sustainability strategy, a lunch and learn session on managing money delivered by Barclays Digital Eagles, and encouraging apprentices to return to their schools and colleges to deliver careers talks.

In addition, the successful applicants of Jet2holidays’ recently launched Appoint an Apprentice scheme will visit the company’s commercial offices in Leeds. Launched in November, the initiative saw the company provide apprenticeship training funding for all apprentices through the Levy Share scheme and up to £5,000 to fund the salaries of new apprentices working at independent travel agency partners in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland to help nurture new talent through the travel industry.

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays recognise the importance of fostering the next generation of talent and have a constantly expanding nationwide apprenticeship programme, making them perfectly aligned for the National Apprenticeship Week 2024 Supporters Club. As well as a selection of apprentice entry roles, the companies’ variety of apprenticeship opportunities are also available to existing colleagues wanting to progress in their careers and learn new skills, of which the planned activities throughout National Apprenticeship Week aim to raise the profile of.

With apprenticeship roles across all levels (Level 2 to Level 7) from entry level through to senior leaders, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays are dedicated to investing in their colleagues and enabling their career development. This allows the companies to ensure the employment of a highly motivated team with the necessary skills required to support their continued growth and success.

Enrolling on an apprenticeship with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays provides the opportunity to gain practical work experience, essential skills, and professional qualifications whilst earning a wage. Currently, the companies employ over 150 apprentices across Finance, Engineering, HR, IT, Marketing, Operations Control, Health & Safety, Ground Operations, Contact Centre and Procurement, who are training for their qualifications with a view to progressing into permanent roles or to support their development within Jet2.

In October, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays recognised 33 apprentices graduating from their apprenticeship scheme at their second annual apprenticeship graduation ceremony. The apprentices, from across Engineering, Finance, Ground Operations, IT, Marketing and Operations Control, have now proudly secured permanent positions with the airline and tour operator, with many of the companies’ internal apprentices securing promotions during their apprenticeships.

National Apprenticeship Week is an annual celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to raise awareness of the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses, and the wider economy. The theme for 2024 is “Skills for Life” which aims to promote apprenticeship opportunities at all ages which Jet2.com and Jet2holidays advocate through the employment of apprentices from a range of educational and career backgrounds, creating a diverse working culture.

Miriam D’souli, HR Director at Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “Our apprentices are integral to our ongoing business success and growth, so we are delighted to be involved with the Supporters Club for National Apprenticeship Week 2024. With the significant recruitment of even more apprentices planned for next year as well as the opportunities available to existing colleagues, the future of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays looks very bright with the array of talent progressing through the companies. The success of our award-winning business is due to our dedicated colleagues, and we are motivated to continue recruiting the best team the industry has to offer. As our apprenticeship programme plays a key role in our development, we look forward to continuously welcoming even more apprentices and nurturing existing talent, to ensure we continue to be industry leaders.”
