Air Dolomiti Takes Off Towards Ever More Ambitious Horizons
1st March 2024
Air Dolomiti, the Italian airline company of Lufthansa Group, resolutely continues its growth path through an ambitious increase in its fleet, which now numbers 21 aircraft: 17 Embraer 195s with 122 seats and 4 Embraer 190s with 108 seats.
A constant evolution, planned and targeted over the long term: 2024 begins with a well-defined schedule of new additions throughout the year, in April, May and July, reaching 25 aircrafts in November.
The expansion of the fleet has led to a significant increase in the company’s recruitment, which now employs 1000 people, including ground and flying personnel.
Recruitment campaigns for flying staff at the Verona headquarter and at the two new bases in Venice and Florence opened last summer, are still ongoing and will continue to accompany Air Dolomiti’s development.
Alongside the growth in fleet size and number of employees, the airline has also undergone qualitative development. While still serving as a feeder carrier for Italian traffic to the German hubs of Munich and Frankfurt, it has also been entrusted by the Lufthansa Group to operate several European routes.
The positioning towards Europe represents an evolution of Air Dolomiti’s role: while maintaining its identity, it has expanded harmoniously with other carriers in the Group, demonstrating its ability to tackle new market challenges. Air Dolomiti operates many European routes from German hubs such as the recent launch of flights from Frankfurt to London City and Geneva.
“To date we have transported 3 million passengers – an absolute record for our company. We have increased our fleet, hired new colleagues, and feel ready to enthusiastically embrace our new role and the challenges that come with it, continuing our development on European routes. Our mission is to grow and position ourselves securely in the market, without forgetting our values, but at the same time embracing all the innovations that growth brings; A complex and fascinating sector such as air transport requires solid foundations, but also the willingness and imagination to react quickly to changes. This has always been Air Dolomiti’s strong point: consistency in our approach and planning, with the aim of becoming increasingly reliable and attractive, both for our passengers and for those who choose to work with us“, says Steffen Harbarth, CEO of Air Dolomiti.
