Having supplied the National Health Service for the past 49 years, we are proud to have provided hospitals throughout the UK with durable medical equipment fully supported by our professional after sales team operating nationwide.
Over the years we have worked closely with many organisations, developing products such as the passenger transfer chair, supermarket mobility scooters, asset tracking systems and the recently launched Thermal Access Control system. This continues today utilising our state of the art research and development division.
Exporting to over 25 countries makes us a truly global medical technology organisation.
Roma has a wealth of knowledge and manufacturing expertise and over the years we have received many requests to make special/bespoke products. As a result Roma has been able to provide specific product requirements for individual customers, meeting their exact specification.
One such request involved the development of an IV stand in support of the Covid19 pandemic which was designed, approved and specified all within the space of 48 hours! This product was rolled out to the Nightingale field hospitals throughout the UK.
Another example requiring our design expertise culminated in the development of a unique imaging chair for use in X-ray departments.
Whether your requirements are for passenger transfer chairs, mobility aids through to asset tracking tools or thermal imaging access technology, Roma Medical are proud to be the premier choice in the sector.

For passengers with restricted mobility the Woburn chair with under seat storage shelf starts off the range of passenger transfer chairs followed by the Blenheim which adds the feature of automatic braking to help prevent against falls risks. Topping the range, the Burghley bariatric model with padded seat only, has a safe working load of 380 Kg or 60 stone. The Woburn chair can be specified with either a padded or hard seat and can be used indoors or outdoors, while The Blenheim chair is supplied with a hard folding seat only. With its automatic brake system, the Blenheim chair is also suitable for outdoor use.
Roma Medical offers a full selection of wheelchairs from standard transit to self-propelling and bariatric variants.
Completing the portfolio of PRM equipment we have the evacuation (Ambulance) chair and the Sovereign 4, motorised mobility scooter.
Thermal Imaging System
The Roma Thermal Imaging System has been developed to assist in the screening of passengers and staff in high traffic footfall areas. The system can be linked to electronic door entry (access control) to minimise the risk of staff who are displaying signs of fever from entering controlled areas. With face recognition, the system can allow entry of pre-authorised personnel and also deny access should the thermal threshold criteria be exceeded.
Face recognition is integrated with body temperature monitoring, so no additional staff are required. Non-contact access helps to reduce cross-infection. With a large storage capacity of face images and temperature information, coupled with easy back-tracking, areas benefit from fast access to prevent congestion.
Blue Intelligence - Asset control and tracking
Bluetooth technology allows for accurate location mapping by using a Bluetooth transmitter and multiple beacons. The signal strength picked up by multiple beacons allows accurate mapping to take place.
IOT web interface for management and reporting:
- Locate individual equipment
- Locate grouped equipment (crisis/disaster management)
- Review equipment journeys by date range
- Locate staffing for Health & Safety (terrorism management)
- Providing big data metrics
Bluetooth Intelligent Tags
Moveable products are fitted with small, battery powered transmitters (asset tags). Each tag has its own digitally recorded ID, stored in our webserver database. The tags communicate their positions to a strategically placed network of receivers. In turn, these receivers report this data to our webserver, allowing real-time location tracking, historical movement analysis and reporting.
The receivers continuously push live information to our online database, allowing the user to quickly locate their required item in the building. If the item moves out of a zone and is picked up by a new receiver, our system will recognise that the item was moved, where it was moved to and how long the process took, providing immediate data on stationary time, distance travelled and time taken.
If an item leaves a previously defined space, an alarm event can be triggered and can send a notification to the building management team. Our Geofencing can work both ways, to restrict the arrival or departure of categorised items and areas.
