Every other year for manufacturers and suppliers of airport equipment, technology, design and services, inter airport Europe provides the opportunity to meet specialists from airports, airlines, air cargo carriers as well as aviation support from all over the world.

The world’s leading airport exhibition is renowned for covering the most comprehensive range of products and services for the entire airport. HYDRO is proud to announce today the world premiere of two unprecedented innovations. The emover is the new standard in emission-free aircraft moving. It will feature at HYDRO’s booth D56 in the outside area. The Landing Gear Robot (LGR) ensures safe and easy landing gear change. This innovation will feature at HYDRO’s booth 284 in hall B6.

The emover – emission-free towing with unprecedented universality

Today, HYDRO is introducing a new solution to the market that will help to reduce required equipment and airport traffic making airports ready for further passenger growth. The electrically powered emover is able to push and pull an unprecedented range of aircraft – from the Embraer E170 to the Airbus A380.

Every day there are more than 100,000 flights worldwide. The expected doubling of airport traffic within the next 15 years is a major challenge for airport logistics. With passenger growth increasing so significantly, what can airports do to meet this rising demand especially on airport logistics? More passengers means more aircraft in the same space. But how can they handle that? One key to success is to improve the aircraft pushback and towing process.

“We’re proud of bringing this innovation to market”, states Peter Prinz, CEO of HYDRO. “Such universality is not offered by any other market solution.” The ability to clear gates, regardless of the aircraft type, with one emover enables covering a complete terminal section of close-by gates. This avoids inefficient unloaded drives. The effected higher degree of availability, boosted by real time Ground Handling Planning software, will not only improve the airport throughput but will also significantly reduce asset requirements.

The Landing Gear Robot (LGR) – for safe and easy landing gear change

Today, HYDRO is introducing the electrically powered Landing Gear Robot (LGR) to the market. With its huge work space and six degrees of freedom (six axes), the LGR enables changing all landing gears of an unprecedented wide range of commercial aircraft. Its outstanding maneuverability allows easy access to the installation even if other maintenance equipment like tripod-jacks or work stages are in place. There is no need for accurate pre-positioning any more. The huge working space of the LGR compensates for inaccurate positioning.

A typical landing gear maintenance program can take upwards of 45 days, leaving the airplane out of commission during the overhaul process and making for costly downtime. For moving the load, hard physical manpower and a team of four to six operators are needed. The existing process is time-consuming, unpredictable and, therefore, expensive.

“The Landing Gear Robot will significantly improve the safety and process stability of landing gear changes”, says Peter Prinz. “This is the first installation tool providing the accuracy to install a landing gear right the first time, every time.” The Landing Gear Robot is suited to a wide variety of installation applications.
