Airbus starts the second phase of the SmarTWISP app developer programme, demonstrates new applications for the P8GR pager in Germany and offers protection against cyberattacks

Elancourt, 20. November 2017 – At this year’s PMRExpo, Airbus will be showcasing its latest products and services at the Koelnmesse exhibition centre (Cologne), stand D01 Hall 10.2, from 28 to 30 November 2017. In light of the increasing demands on broadband services, Airbus is continuing to develop an ecosystem built around the Tactilon Dabat hybrid device (Tetra mobile radio and Android smartphone all-in-one).

The “SmarTWISP” app developer programme is soon entering its second phase. Dozens of new Airbus partners are already registered on the SmarTWISP portal, acting as pioneers to create new smartphone apps for the Tactilon Dabat. Airbus will profoundly test and subsequently certify the developers’ ideas. Consequently, users can be sure that they are using secure and reliable technology. Especially fire brigades, police and emergency services are in demand of applications which facilitate their daily work.

Airbus invites journalists to the official start of the SmarTWISP’s next phase on the Airbus stand D01 Hall 10.2. on 29 November 2017 at 4:00 p.m. (local time). Representatives of SmarTWISP partners and app developers „heinekingmedia GmbH/stashcat“, „secunet“ und „ESG“ will be at the stand and present their products for the Tactilon Dabat. managers, will be available for interviews. Drinks and snacks will be available.

Since more and more companies have been combining their PMR infrastructure with other IT platforms, they could increasingly become targets for cyberattacks. In addition to this, the new NIS directive from the EU (Directive on the security of network and information systems) obliges companies throughout Europe to better protect their IT and communications systems. Airbus in Germany will now offer a complete and tailored solution called “Tactilon Cyber Security”. This service helps to detect weak spots of PMR systems, maintain and update them regularly – and all of this is consistent with the new NIS directive. This includes managing situations in case of a threat, upgrade, security monitoring, access control, backups and recovery, to name a few.

Airbus is also introducing a new function for the “P8GR” Tetra pager. Fire brigades in Hessen are already successfully working with the device, with emergency control centres informing firefighters within just a few seconds of an upcoming call-out, and calling up personnel on standby.
