Copenhagen to share baggage reclaim secrets at Passenger Terminal Conference
Louise Brix-Hansen, senior project manager, Copenhagen Airports, Denmark, who revealed how to transform baggage reclaim from mere storage facility to super lean operation at last year’s conference, is returning this year to discuss how to decrease baggage waiting times using holistic quantitative analysis.
“Surveys indicate that one of the greatest improvement areas in recent times at Copenhagen (CPH) has been the reduction of baggage reclaim waiting times,” says Brix-Hansen. “In close cooperation with ground handlers and airlines, a thorough study was made of the entire arrival process, from pre-aircraft arrival to passengers’ receipt of baggage in the reclaim area, to identify the primary root causes of the problem. Multiple improvements were identified, including the reducing of variation between scheduled time of arrival and actual time of arrival, the timely receipt and use of accurate data, and improved planning processes.”
The presentation will take place on Thursday 16 March, as part of the ‘Technology – Integration & Apps’ session. Leading speakers from the same session include Alan Cowper, baggage director, Operational Strategy at Heathrow Airport Limited, UK; and Khalid Sani, manager, Baggage Handling System, Changi Airport Group, Singapore.
