KLM puts electric Goldhofer Sherpa into use

A special moment today for KLM at Schiphol: the first of the 29 electric equipment tow tractors, the ‘Goldhofer Sherpa’, was put into use.

With the arrival of the Goldhofer Sherpas, half of KLM’s equipment tow tractors on the platform have been electrified. As a result of this expansion, KLM has now electrified just over 70% of its ground operations. The goal is zero-emission ground handling by 2030.

“I am extremely proud of the team that has worked hard to achieve this milestone. It is vital that we continue to innovate in order to further improve our ground operations. I look forward to realising more developments like this, and to achieving our ambitions.”

Thijs Komen, VP Apron Services

Equipment tow tractors play a crucial role on the Schiphol platform. They transport essential equipment such as containers, freight stairs and ground power units that are necessary for the handling of our flights.
