Bayreuth (Germany).- The International College of ID Management (IDM), a education institute for document analysis and verification, opens its doors. The new institute offers seminars and trainings in document analysis. Employees working in public authorities, police, banks, car rentals or law offices, who have to regularly check identities, can train themselves to become document experts.

How do I detect a fake ID card? How do I reliably establish a person´s identity? The experts at the newly founded International College of ID Management answer these questions in individual training sessions and lectures. The college targets employees from public authorities who deal with the verification of ID documents and who want to deepen their knowledge in this field. Using simple tools, the participants learn how to properly check the large amount of international currencies, ID cards, passports or visas and to detect forgeries in their everyday work. With this knowledge they can actively prevent crimes such as identity fraud and money laundering as well as the resulting economic damage.

At the college location Bayreuth (Germany), mayor Thomas Ebersberger is pleased about the commitment of the technology enterprise DESKO, which stands as a sponsor behind the mechanism:

“As mayor of the city I am proud to welcome DESKO as a local Bayreuth company that is extending its field of activity with a further education institute for document knowledge and analysis. This new highly specialized educational institution strengthens the city of Bayreuth in the future field of electronic identity check. Electronic Identity Check supports many other applications from e-commerce to e-government processes. Bayreuth as an IT center of excellence will benefit from this know-how. There are interfaces to digital business models and other companies that offer direct management advantages.”

Comprehensive seminar range from basic to expert status

The training offered by the college includes theoretical and practical training sessions at different levels of knowledge. In modules building one on another the participants acquire an in-depth know-how in the field of identity verification and document analysis.

  • The basic modules are suitable for beginners and refreshing existing knowledge.
  • The advanced seminars are perfect for people with several years of experience in document verification.
  • Within the range of seminars participants can train themselves to become a document expert.

Having successfully completed a module, the participants receive a certificate. The trainings are conducted by renowned experts (rank of police chief inspector or higher) who have extensive experience from their professional practice and therefore ensure a high level of seminar content.

The seminars can be booked in German and English. For international participants, French and Spanish are planned as additional seminar languages. The trainings can be attended on site in Bayreuth, booked online or held at the company itself. Hence, interested participants can choose the option that fits best for them.

DESKO GmbH as sponsor of the college

The International College of ID Management was founded on the initiative of the Bayreuth-based DESKO GmbH, a company with more than 30 years of experience in the authentication of ID documents. Due to its international business activities, the medium-sized company can draw on a network of experienced document experts who enjoy a high reputation in the industry. The company would like to use this bundled know-how and pass it on to interested participants at the IDM.

In addition Alexander Zahn, managing director DESKO GmbH explains:

“The economic damage caused by counterfeit identity documents and banknotes can hardly be quantified internationally. From social benefits to human trafficking: the basis of organized crime for many of these crimes is a forged passport or identity card. Only those who recognize forgeries and react accordingly can prevent fraud and worse. We’re laying the groundwork for that here at the college.”

The International College of ID Management has started classes in June. Information at www.idm-college.com
