Frequentis will deliver its DIVOS recording solution to nine air traffic control towers in Germany for a 5-year nationwide program

The German air navigation service provider , DFS, recently selected Frequentis for a 5-year framework contract to deliver its DIVOS voice recording solution to nine air traffic control (ATC) towers across Germany, including Frankfurt, Berlin, and Leipzig.

DFS chose Frequentis after an international competition among the recording industry leaders. The win also comes shortly after Frequentis was awarded the contract to supply its latest end-to-end IP voice communication system, VCS3020X to DFS for the same tower project.

DIVOS will deliver many operational benefits including a modern, intuitive user interface and a centralised service package. This allows incident investigation across the country increasing efficiency and data integrity.

“We have chosen Frequentis to supply our new tower recording solution and communication systems thanks to its cost efficiency and excellent understanding of air traffic control operations”, states Robert Schickling, COO, DFS.

DIVOS is in use in over 50 countries and provides specific ATM-grade functions such as the latest ED-137 Voice-over-IP specifications. The DIVOS Voice Recording Systems at nine towers form a countrywide solution giving investigators the ability to provide complete data analysis and reconstruction and create a more comprehensive picture of an incident, supporting and enhancing the work aviation authorities are responsible for.

“Frequentis is proud to have been selected by DFS to supply our latest ATM-grade recording technology and IP voice solution for Germany’s most prestigious tower operations in this multi-year program. This success requires the innovative, forward-thinking expertise that Frequentis and DFS both embrace”, says Hannu Juurakko, Vice President ATM Civil, Frequentis.

The DIVOS software-centric approach will ensure that DFS will always stay at the forefront of technology, employing a continuous update strategy ensuring compliance to emerging national and ICAO standards, including the upcoming ED-137 C standard. DIVOS improves ATC operations even further including incident reporting, synchronised playback, multi-site synchronised incident reconstruction, adaptable user interface for varying roles, and a nation-wide, centralised quarantine to protect recorded data.
