Global Air Traffic Management to Bring Industry Experts Together

IATA has predicted that passenger numbers could double to an incredible $8.2 billion in 2037 with the air traffic control market expected to be worth $105.20 billion by 2026 growing at a CAGR of 14.6%. The Global Air Traffic Management (GATM) conference and exhibition scheduled to take place 19-20 November within the Dubai Airshow, will investigate the worldwide capacity crunch, its effect on air traffic and discover the disruptive technologies which are revolutionising air traffic control and propelling industry growth.

GATM will present a comprehensive and interactive discussion on air traffic control in the UAE, the GCC and how the region fits in on a global scale. CAAs, ANSPs, Airlines, Airports and ATM suppliers will come together to learn, connect and build relationships with key stakeholders in the industry.

USD$50 billion worth of aviation projects were under construction in the Gulf region in 2018: Kuwait is investing a total of USD$20 billion in human resources and infrastructure for commercial aviation, including to develop systems to support the ATCM of the existing and new airports; Bahrain announced a $37 million project to upgrade their ATCM systems and Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans) invested $16 million on soft and human infrastructure to support expected 1.2 million annual air traffic movements in UAE airspace in 2025.

Key international names and industry leaders have already established their support for GATM: Dubai Air Navigation Services (dans), Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and Dubai Airports are officially supporting the event, with HungaroControl confirmed as headline sponsor.

Ibrahim Ahli, Deputy CEO of dans, said, “Hosting the Global Air Traffic Management Conference concurrently with the Dubai Air Show this year is an exemplary initiative to showcase the holistic picture of the Aviation sector, and the crucial role Air Traffic Management has as an enabler in empowering effective operations within. The Global Air Traffic Management Conference provides a platform for Governmental entities, air navigation service provides and suppliers to share their success stories and plans for the future. And thus, we look forward to discussing headlining topics that impact Air Traffic Management operations with the best professionals there are in the market, and convene with the leading decision makers at the conference.”

Attila Simon, Director of Business Development at HungaroControl, added, “Now more than ever, the ATM industry is required to collaborate in order to address the issues facing the aviation community. HungaroControl is acutely aware of this need from our journey in harmonizing services with our collaborators in the European region. GATM is the platform that brings together leading industry thought to share experiences and explore opportunities for improved ATM performance.”

Speakers across the two days will include Alison FitzGerald, COO of London City Airport; Elliott Paige, Director, Air Service Development of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and Marzoog Algamdi, Learning and Development Specialist at General Authority of Civil Aviation Saudi Arabia (GACA).

“With such major growth predicted for passenger numbers and air traffic, there is no doubt that the ATC industry is already looking at how they can future-proof their processes, technology and infrastructure to meet this demand,” says Rachel Sturgess, Portfolio Director at event organisers Tarsus F&E LLC Middle East. She continues, “At GATM, we will be investigating how technology can drive major changes, hearing from some of the industry’s most forward thinking achievers and showcasing these new innovations through our dedicated exhibition.

“In addition to the knowledge sharing and learning across the agenda topics, GATM offers unparalleled industry networking opportunities both during the conferences and throughout the wider Dubai Airshow with major civil delegations attending from all over the world.” Sturgess confirmed.
