Innsbruck airport welcomes Air Dolomiti
Air Dolomiti is the first Italian airline to receive the RNP AR certification from ENAC to land in the Austrian airport
Air Dolomiti, the Italian airline of Lufthansa Group, widens its list of destinations for the next summer.
Starting from 2nd May 2022, flights from Innsbruck to Frankfurt hub will be operative with three daily frequencies. The flights are part of the Summer 2022 offer that, together with the fleet expansion project, will enrich Air Dolomiti’s European network.
Innsbruck-Kranebitten Airport is 3.5 km far from the city center and it is known for its peculiar mountainous environment: the nearby Alps create atypical air currents that make take-offs and landings more difficult. For this reason, it is necessary to obtain RNP AR certification, which guarantees high navigation standards. We have already obtained the authorization by Austrian Control and in these days we just received the Certificate from ENAC therefore we are the first Italian Airline to get RNP AR approval.
“This new ENAC authorisation is very important and makes us proud as it confirms our strong spirit and our desire for continuous renewal. The support from the Lufthansa Group has never missed and together with our enthusiasm allow us to look to the future with optimism. The coming months will see the accomplishment of many projects among which the already mentioned arrival of planes and new flights.” said Steffen Harbarth, CEO of Air Dolomiti.
“Innsbruck Airport is known for its complex take-off and landing operations and high standard of navigation requirements. For this reason pilots intended to operate on this airport must be trained to handle the complexity of the flight approach. We are therefore particularly proud to have received the RNP AR certification: this testifies to the technical and professional preparation of our pilots“. Commented Cpt Roberto Belgrado, Air Dolomiti’s Director of Flight Operations.
