Key sessions not to be missed at this years IATA World Safety and Operations Conference

With WSOC agenda and speakers confirmed, below is a summary of some of the key sessions to deliver on the Conference theme this year ‘Embracing Innovation and Technology for Safe and Efficient Operations’.

• Michele Merkle, Director, ICAO Air Navigation Bureau

Hot on the heals of the ICAO Air Navigation Conference, Michele will provide a global perspective on the opportunities and challenges of incorporating innovation and technology, at State level, into the aviation system.

• Marc Parent, CEO, CAE

As a member of the opening plenary ‘CEO Panel’, Marc will join IATA Director General along with the CEOs of Royal Air Maroc and Ethiopian Airlines to share his insights on how innovation and technology are shaping airline performance. Marc will provide his expertise and perspective on leveraging training, automation, and AI to drive efficiencies and enhance both safety and the customer experience.

• Jesper Rasmussen, Flight Standards Director, EASA

Providing the regulator perspective within the closing plenary ‘Executive Panel’, Jesper will reflect on the Conference discussions and provide his own views on where the largest opportunities lie and how, within the aviation regulatory framework, we can become more agile to allow early, but safe, adoption.

• Jennifer Homendy, NTSB Chair

As a NTSB priority is to ensure its readiness to carry out its mission amid rapid technological advancement in all modes of transportation including commercial space transportation, uncrewed aircraft systems, advanced air mobility, and supersonic aircraft, Jennifer will share how she is pushing for measures that not only will save lives but preserve the public’s trust in proven lifesaving technologies.
