SMi Group reports: US speakers from the Department of Homeland Security and Border Patrol are set to speak at the 14th annual Border Security conference this February

On the 4th January 2021, it was announced that a controlled scenario test by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) showed a 96% accuracy rate for facial recognition technologies to accurately identify individuals wearing protective face masks. “This isn’t a perfect 100% solution,” said Arun Vemury, director of S&T’s Biometric and Identity Technology Center, “but it may reduce risks for many travelers, as well as the frontline staff working in airports, who no longer have to ask all travelers to remove masks.” *

With this in mind, SMi Group’s Border Security conference, taking place virtually on the 10th-11th February 2021, will feature two US speakers from the Department of Homeland Security and Border Patrol, discussing how they are combatting cross-border crime with technology during the COVID-19 crisis.

Registration is FREE for military and government personnel, and just £499 for commercial organisations. Register at http://www.bordersec-conference.com/airportsupplier
