Eurowings expands “Sneaker Airline” concept to all operating days
Germany’s largest leisure airline embraces modern crew style: trainers now part of the uniform every day
- Expansion of the popular “Sneaker Flydays” in response to employee demand
- Passengers also consistently respond positively to the stylish footwear
- Eurowings CEO Max Kownatzki: „Modern look underlines our identity as Europe’s value airline”
Eurowings is expanding its successful “Sneaker Airline” concept effective immediately: crew members at Germany’s largest leisure airline can now wear their white sports shoes with the Eurowings logo as part of their uniform every day. Previously, this was only possible on Fridays as part of the so-called “Sneaker Flydays”. From now on, Eurowings operates under the motto: “Sneakers any day.”
With this decision, the Lufthansa Group airline is responding directly to its employees’ wish for greater comfort during their day-to-day operations while also giving its cabin crew look a fresh, modern touch. The sneakers not only bring visible “good vibes” on board, they also reflect a contemporary travel experience that fits the airline perfectly – true to the Eurowings brand promise: “More ease for everyone.”
The white sneakers add a fresh touch both on board and on the ground and are seen by employees as especially comfortable and authentic. The positive response goes well beyond the crews themselves: many passengers also regularly comment favourably on the sneakers in customer feedback and on social media – the look proving a hit with both passengers and crews.
“Whether travelling for business or leisure, no other shoe combines professionalism, comfort and ease quite as naturally as the sneaker,” says Max Kownatzki, CEO of Eurowings and himself a passionate sneaker enthusiast. “The modern look also underlines our identity as Europe’s value airline – with a clear ambition to differentiate ourselves from the traditional low-cost competition. That applies not only to the quality of our products and services, but also to the way we present ourselves.”
