Air France at Industry Week 2025: Showcasing Technical Professions and Inspiring Tomorrow’s Talent
From November 17 to 23, 2025, Air France took part in the 14th edition of Industry Week, held this year under the theme “With industry, build your future.” This national event in France celebrated the country’s industrial expertise and aims to spark vocations, particularly among young people and women.
Highlighting Aircraft Maintenance Professions
For Air France, this week was a key opportunity to promote aircraft maintenance professions—an area of excellence within the Air France-KLM Group. Through several initiatives, the company showcased the richness of these professions and sought to attract new talent.
The week was marked by two major events led by Air France employee ambassadors:
At the Cité des Métiers Charles de Gaulle – Alliance: 24 students from the pre-vocational program at Champs de Claye Middle School (Seine-et-Marne department) attended a forum to discover aircraft maintenance professions.
At the Air and Space Museum in Le Bourget: 30 aeronautical and technical vocational high school students from Lycée Aristide Briand took part in a guided tour with a museum educator, followed by discussions with Air France Industries professionals.
In parallel, a digital campaign highlighted portraits of aircraft maintenance employees, raising public awareness of the diversity of roles and career paths within Air France.
A Strong Commitment to Employment, Training and Gender Balance
Air France’s participation in Industry Week is part of a broader commitment by the Air France-KLM Group to employment and training in France. The Group has plans for more than 1,000 permanent (CDI) hires by the end of 2027, primarily in aircraft maintenance, to support the growth of its operations and the renewal of its fleet.
Since 2022, nearly 500 new employees have joined Air France’s maintenance teams each year on permanent contracts, reinforcing the company’s key role in developing qualified industrial employment in France.
The airline also reaffirms its commitment to supporting the professional integration of future generations, increasing the representation of women in technical professions, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
The Group is also actively involved in the “Féminisons les métiers de l’aéronautique” initiative and continues to increase outreach to young women, encouraging them to pursue technical and scientific studies and join aeronautics and aviation professions. Today, women represent 16% of the workforce of Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance in France. This figure—steadily rising in recent years—is expected to continue increasing, as more than 22% of current apprentices are young women.
Socio-economic Impact Supporting Local Communities
The Air France-KLM Group plays a major role in both the national and regional economy. It generates 1.9% of France’s GDP and contributes 3% to the GDP of the Île-de-France region, highlighting its strong local footprint and its influence on regional economic vitality.
In France, the Group’s maintenance division employs 7,200 staff across Air France Industries sites: Paris-Charles de Gaulle (60% of staff), Paris-Orly / Villeneuve-le-Roi (35%) and Toulouse (5%). These teams play a crucial role in ensuring aircraft safety and performance, while also contributing to the creation of direct and indirect jobs.
Beyond employment, Air France supports local development through its training centers, partnerships with educational institutions and initiatives promoting the French aeronautics sector. This approach contributes to the appeal and long-term sustainability of aeronautical professions in France.
This regional commitment was recently highlighted during a visit by Mr. Sébastien Martin, Minister Delegate for Industry, to the Air France Industries engine maintenance site at Paris-Orly, underlining the strategic and social importance of the Group’s industrial activities for local communities.
